Long-time reader, first time posting.

I own a 9G 1950 Studebaker Champion and can't tell if it's a Custom,
Deluxe or Regal. The Champ is a 4-door sedan with overdrive, hill-hold
clutch and under-seat heaters, but has no radio - never did. The car
dash has two unoccupied switch holes. The Champ also has three chrome
diamonds on each side vent, which I've not seen on other Champs.

Can you take a look here and let me know what you think - Custom,
Deluxe or Regal?

Although many regular posters will no doubt chime in but I think I know it's
not a custom as they were real bare bones and had a small round trunk
handle; the regal had chrome around the side windows so that leaves Deluxe
as my guess. Whatever it's a real beauty and a keeper.
Thanks for posting.

Looks as though the original owner went for some options or a dealer did
some aftermarket on the car. The Diamonds as you call them were standard on
the Commander model in 47-49, and I have never seen them on a 50. The front
bumper protector was a high priced ticket back then, and that you indicated
it has underseat heaters means that the second one was an option. Hill
Holder and especially OD were options, and having OD on a Champ engine is a
big plus as you can do some highway cruising without worry.

It has been my understanding that these classifications were based on
interior upholstery and body trim. I do not see "chrome" trim around
the windows and can't tell from these pictures whether this car has
stainless rocker panels. Hill hold, radio, and heater were simply
options for any model. I am envious of the bumper "irons".

Thank you to everyone that's posted thus far. The windows do have a
1/2" chrome trim. We haven't reinstalled the wing windows/interior
frames, as we're upholstering the door panels. The car does not have
stainless rocker panels; it might have ages ago. The paint job isn't
great (done by the previous owner); the shop painted over all of the
seals. Ugh.

The "irons" are cool, and separate the car from other Champs I've seen
in the area.

It's great to be part of this discussion board. Thanks again.
