Hi -
Have a '99 F-150 Lariat, Ext Cab, 4X2, Disks in front and rear...
Had the truck inspected last week and it passed, but was told it would need
front pads very soon (Backs were fine). One thing I had noticed was that
about 2-3 months ago, the ABS light came on intermittently and as time went
on, stayed on more than it was off. At the time of the inspection, it had
come on within a few seconds after starting, and stayed on all the time.
That said, I thought maybe the light was coming on because the brakes were
so low and it was somehow tripping the ABS sensor or something. Anyway -
Did the front brakes last night and they were very low (about 1/16th left -
they were in the squealer, but not cutting the rotors). I replaced the pads
and took it for a test drive. It stops nice, and everything seems to be
fine. The only thing is the ABS light is still on. I also expected the
brake pedal to be a little tighter, but it still has a little amount of
travel (spongy). Fluid is high, so does anyone have any ideas on how to
correct the above issues?
Thanks,
IYM
