i'm getting sick of people trying to fool me all the damn time......
I have a 97 nissan sentra with the following problems:
1.) check engine light- shows EGR valve error code (how much do u think
it costs to replace it)
2.) transmission (automatic): is a bit jerky during shifts (when the
engine is cold), and sometimes makes a light "thud" in rush hour
traffic (slow speeds, constant braking and 1st to 2nd to 1st shifts-
(in D of course)
3.)car has 114000 miles, don't know if it ever had the transmission
fluid changed? since i bought it at 104000.
4.) If you know of a place where they will check everything
(faithfully) and give some logical answers/ and reasonable prices...let
me know....Los Angeles,hollywood, lax whereeveer
now why am i sick?
1.) i have been told to replace the catalytic convertor by one mechanic
for 600$!!!!- while the other wants to change the EGR valve for about
300$
2.) someone says i should get a new/used transmission....for a lot of
money....while the other mechanic says its absoultely fine...
3.) the suspension makes a creaking sound on braking hard/
hills/handbrake release, but they won't grease it claiming its fine and
you can't grease anything on a 97 sentra!!!!!
the list is long ...someone help pleeeease! >> Stay informed about: 97 sentra |

Before you have someone replace your EGR valve and feel silly when it
wasn't the problem, check the lines going to it. It could be that you
have a simple vacuum leak causing your issues.

This problem sounds alot like a pproblem I had in my 96 Altima. Check
the distributor to see if oil is leaking into the distributor. If so,
replace that.

Great! (sorry, I missed your second question) Often problems like that
can be attributed to a vacuum leak. It pays to check those first.
Feels good keeping that money in your pocket, doesn't it?
