Archived from groups: alt>autos>toyota>trucks (more info?)

I have a 97 Tacoma ExtCab 4X4 V6 with automatic transmission @ 160K.
When power is applied at medium and worse at higher speads there is a
vibration in what seems the powertrain. When power is taken of the
vibration goes away. I have looked quickly at the universal joints and
drive shaft and both don't seem to have any play. Could it be CV
joints? U joint or bearings? Any suggestions welcomed....thanks

u-joints dont always have to be loose to cause problems ,if they are binding it will cause vibration, remove shaft and check for binding.
