Hi,
we are the new proud owners of this fine car. (only 60K miles!!!)
I would be grateful if you would get us pointed in the right
direction by possibly answering a couple of Q's.

1. recommendation for a service manual (I usually get the dealer's)
2. the display clock is broken (fuse is ok) Any ideas?
If it is broken, any preferred on-line parts vendor?
3. tranny (automatic) makes a mild clunk when shifting. I plan to
change fluid, hence the need for the manual...Is this normal?
4. I can't figure out how to work the anti-theft system.
5. Is there a FAQ? (I know this should be the first question Wink

The PO said that the car would drain batteries since it wasn't driven.
The mechanic may have disconnected the clock, and possibly the
security system.

Thanks for any help with this.

Jay

I have an 89 with 245000 miles and the silver factory manual.

The A/T drain plug is a 3/8" recessed socket under the driver's floor, kind
of hidden. Insert the 3/8" socket into the head and remove; the fluid will
drain, so have a drain pan. Get a new washer for the drain plug. There is
no filter. My car still shifts hard at slow speeds.

To enable the security system, lock the car with the key or from the font
door inside the car. A little red light will flash to the left of the
steering wheel.

Can't help with the other issues. If you dislike your car, I will buy it
Smile

Doug, want a good shift? Here's what to do.
Go buy 9 liters of Honda ATFZ1 transmission fluid.
Remove air cleaner box and intake
Remove Battery and platform
You are now going to clean your transmission solenoid gasket screens
Remove solenoids. There are six 10mm bolts that hold 2 pairs of solenoids
( like round cans about 1 1/2 dia)
You will see some gaskets
Carefully remove gaskets and screens
Clean the screens out with brake cleaner
Take your time
Since your tranny is working fine, there's no need to clean solenoids
replace everything
drain tranny fluid
refill 3 liters
drive around a bit
refill
drive around a bit more
refill
Nice shifts huh?

I'm assuming that yhe tranny fluid in there is pretty good right now. If
not, get some generic dexron 11 and do 2 drain and refills before starting
on the expensive Honda ATFZ1.
With the ATFZ1 and clean screens some shifts are barely noticeable. Better
than when the car was new sometimes.

Mikey;

I may try this later this summer. I have an overheating problem to deal
with all of a sudden. I overflow from the overflow container. I have to
turn on the fans manually (fan and a/c switch ON) to get it cool. It should
get cool all by itself. Drats.
