just today, the car dies at 27 or above rpm. my husband thinks maybe the transmission fluid is overfull. can that make the problem happen?

Your husband "thinks maybe" the transmission is over filled. If he can find and read a dipstick he can "know" whether it's overfilled. No, an over filled transmission is not the cause of your problem.
Ask your hubby if he "thinks maybe" the fuel filter has ever been changed. That would be a good thing to do regardless and not expensive.
