89 F150 Clutch - Hi, I'm back. Now I'm changing the clutch. 4x4 6-cyl. I have the tranny balanced on the cross member and have removed the old clutch, however, I forgot to look at how it came out. Issue 1: The friction plate has a raised center, but I..

Just bought 89 F150. First question. - I just picked up an 89 F150 long bed 2X4, straight 6 and man trans. Picked it up for $450.00. I plan on replacing the fluids, belt, hoses, etc first thing. Then put on some tires. I am thinking of doing a lift kit, 2 or 3 inches. chassis not body. The

89 F150 fuel question. - I recently picked up a 89 F150 4.9 5 Speed. I have only put about 20 miles on it so far. The front tank reads about 1/4 tank and the truck runs fine. The rear tank reads about 1 1/4 tank and will act like the truck is running out of gas...

My clutch pedal is to low. There is also a sound like the throw out
bearing when the clutch is released. Now I am getting an occasional
popping noise when I press on the clutch. The clutch works fine and the
truck drives fine.

I was thinking that the clutch master is part of the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Ted

Well that depends on what engine and what tranny you have, key
info you neglected to include.

Ok given that info I would suspect the slave, not the master.
On the 5 speed tranny the slave is in the bellhousing actually slides
over the input shaft and includes the throw out bearing. Wonderful
design, not. Bear to bleed, prone to leakage, if leaking replace disc
as well at minimum..

I think I found the cause of the popping noise. The clutch pedal linkage to
the clutch master cylinder push rod bushing was coming apart. I picked one
up at the parts store and will put it in later this week.
