The trucks were originally built at the old Diamond Reo truck plant in
Chicago.
More REO info at: <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.reoclub.org" target="_blank">www.reoclub.org</a>
(history)
History of the REO
Ransom Eli Olds founded the REO Motor Car Company in 1904 after
leaving the Olds Motor Works Company (Oldsmobile) which he had also founded.
When he left Oldsmobile, he was precluded from using his name (Olds) for
another auto company, so he chose to use his initials (REO). By the fall of
1904, the new company began producing its first vehicles. REO produced a
variety of cars and trucks (Speedwagons) until 1936 when car production
ceased. Through a series of mergers, etc., REO trucks (under names like
Diamond REO, REO Giant, etc.) continued to be produced until the 1990's.

I think Studebaker took over the contract for them after the initial
prototypes or initial order in 1951 or 52. Ive seen them advertised in
GSA auctions as '51 and up Studebaker Deuce and halfs.I drove a truck
similiar to this one from 1992 to 1995 (1963 M50A1 )

Do you mean REO to Oldsmobile or REO to Studebaker? R E O are the initials of
Ransom E. Oldsmobile. Studebaker assembled REO designed trucks.
