There is a verde green locally that has about 23, 000 miles on it, and is
priced at around $70,000. Other than knowing that it has a 12 cylinder
engine, and that it is very quiet looking, I don't know much about them.

What are your opinions on this vehicle as a Ferrari, and what is a good
price?

Not sure how much I'm impressed by the looks.

IIRC they improved a lot over the years, meaning
the earlier cars had some expensive bugs.

Joe McG here drove a couple examples awhile back.

I remember he was distinctly underwhelmed by one of
the cars he drove, which, I think, was a '97 or so.

That's my hearsay, anyone have anything better?

Gorgeous car, great drivetrain, early examples may have week interior
bits, but reviews are uniformly positive and glowing.

FORZA did a great buyer's guide, you should get a copy.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

It is kind of dull looking, but you know I've never had a problem with
that car, because the engine is so great. It's kind of like a super
fast luxo-boat - and what is wrong with that??

I have Forza's buyers guide for the 355 and the Testarossa, which were the
cars I was primarily looking at, but I'll also backorder the 456 article.
Thanks.

Expensive to maintain AFAIK. There was some kind of issue with the side
windows that crops up on some of them that necessitates very expensive
replacements on some cars - several $'000 per side.

They have a history of depreciating like keys dropped out of a Lear Jet.
Other than that, what's not to like?

While amusing, that's both sort of old news and not perfectly
accurate: They're not Aston Martin's, after all.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I would think "keys" dropped out of a Lear Jet would ... flutter, not
plunge. But then, my professor begged me to drop physics so he wouldn't
have to grade my work ...

I mean, are we talking middle-class soccer mom 8-key cluster? Playboy
soccer star 3-key leather fob? Or high school janitor
74-key-and-bottle-opener ball and chain? Let's get technical here.

The depreciation was actually what caught my interest. This was a $150,000
plus car in 95, now available at 80 asking, probable 70.

But the more I looked at it, the less I cared for the looks. It is a very
quiet looking vehicle, much like my S8, also deceptively fast and good
handling. I'm afraid that I'm shallow enough that I want my sports car to
be swoopy, and aggressive looking, and have an edge to it........ like the
355 or 360, neither of which are in my price range yet. Maybe after the
430 hits the streets, the 355 will come down a bit more in price. I
still like the concept of a 12 cylinder Ferrari more than an 8, but all the
performance stats I read seem to indicate that the 355 is on par or better
than most of the 12s.

I wonder how many years it will be before a 360 is under $80,000?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

We've talked about you comparing apples and oranges, before...

Several years ago FORZA compared a '68 (?) 330 Spider and a '98 (?)
355 Spider: Guess which had "better" performance figures?

....Guess which got the nod for real world enjoyment, despite being
30-yrs older?

I know I'm beating a cavallo guasto, but you'll have much more fun on
the street in a '73 Dino 246 than you ever could in a '05 360 CS.

 >I wonder how many years it will be before a 360 is under $80,000?

Factoring the twin influences of persistent popularity and the
looming, incipient, '80s-like inflation...

You'll be driving a Volvo by then.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

*Aggressive* is not at all how I would describe either of those cars, but I
think I know what you mean.
