I cant seem to get the bonnet up! I pull the lever in the car and it
releases but the safety catch in the middle of the griulle doesnt want to
move any direction. Hence the bonnet wont release from the safety catch. I
didnt get an owners book with the car. Is there another safety catch, or is
the thing in the middle of the grille not the safety catch at all? It needs
some oil and im on a motorway trip tommorrow.....

Sounds like the safety catch has seized due to lack of lubrication.
Try and squirt some WD40 on to it, leave it for 5 minutes, then try to
work the lever with your fingertips to free it off, or maybe a
screwdriver carefully. Once opened, use some more WD40 and free off
completely. Lubricate every service.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Does the lever go up or down or sideways left or right?

I didnt get a manual with mine but found out this is the way I can open my bonnet.

It has two catches on the bonnet so pull lever under drivers side then goto the bonnet and pull bonnet up(will only move a little). Then return to lever under drivers side and pull lever again to release second catch and then pull bonnet up and open.

Hope the above helps.

Sorry didnt read whole post (you done it)but maybe the above will help someone else.
