2002 Peugeot 307 SW 2.0 ltr 110 HP Diesel, 70,000 miles
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alternator charging fault
Get home, aux belt has come off
Have to fit belt by removing O/S wheel and inner wheel arch.
Can't get wheel off coz garage who changed tyres last did wheel bolts up so
tight wheel locking nuts are destroyed.
2 blokes, wheel brace and scaffold extension cant even get the other 3
normal wheel bolts to budge !
Jack car up, remove spalsh gaurd and idler pulley falls out, sheared off
bolt.
So now I take it to a Pug specialist garage.
Both front wheels need bolts drilling out.
Major problem trying to get snapped idler pulley stud out.
Idler pulley out of stock, garage keeps car over bank holiday weekend with
the battery disconnected.
Got them to change cam belt at same time.
Pick up car, can not lock car doors & boot using key in door or plip or dash
CDL button.
left hand & right hand window lift buttons swap to right hand & left hand
control, ie swapped over.
Loose higher BSI functions like auto lights etc.
Reverted to basic left hand drive mode or something daft.
Car goes back to be reprogrammed.
Get back home, press plip once to lock car
Horn goes "parp"
Now all 3 passenger doors and boot permanently deadlocked, cannot open with
key in drivers door, plip or dash CDL button or even inner mechanical
handles.
It's like the Dukes of Hazzard, passengers have to get out of window.
Goes back to garage.
All 4 CDL motors and boot lock motors burnt out.
Car fixed and everything works as should be.
I was expecting a huge row and a huge bill.
I say "what's the damage ?"
Garage says "Sorry Mate, no charge, we will take it up with Peugeot"
I nearly feint with relief. >> Stay informed about: 307 3 week nightmare with happy ending |
The one I go to - Thorps of Alderminster, nr. Stratford-upon-Avon, is.
Please tell us who this one is, they deserve the publicity.
