Went to check oil level today and when replacing the dipstick realised the
end (yellow plastic part you use to see oil level) has almost totally snapped
off and is now i presume floating in the sump somewhere !!!!!

I am slightly concerned about this and would like to know if anyone has any
knowledge / previous experience with this type of problem and advise what
the best solution would be ? If left is this likely to cause further problems.

any advice will be grateful

thanks in advance

David

Don't worry about it. Very common problem but it won't do any harm. It
may even come out on the next oil change. Just buy a new dipstick!!

My mate had this same problem with his wife's 206. If I remember right, he
towed it to a garage, where they dropped the sump, got the bit out and then
put it all back. Not a big job, just easier for a garage to do it with the
car on a ramp. He may have been a bit over cautious, but myself also
wouldn't like to think what would happen if that bit got from the sump into
the engine.
Don't want to scare, but best be safe than sorry,

Cheers
Neil

It would need to get past the pump strainer and the filter. Not very
likely.
