2003 Honda Civic strange problem

I have a 2003 Honda Civic, about 45,000 miles. Recently it has been having a problem where the power windows, power doors, blinkers and usually intermitently wipers, will all stop working. Sometimes I can get them for a minute or two, but then back to nothing. A friend of mine disconnected the battery which he said would reset the system. It seemed to solve the problem for about a month, but it has just started again. Does anyone have any better suggestions?
