Look from the front-right tire, at the bottom of the tranny. It has a
square recessed hole in it for the tool. When you unscrew it, the tranny
fluid will try to squirt on your front-right tire. You need a 3/8" drive
handle, with no socket on it. It will be tight if it hasn't been changed
yet.

Search this group a day or two back for a better explanation.

HERE IT IS:

Honda trannies are different than anything out there, especially the way
they shift as they are coming to a stop. . . . .

That said, you really don't know how well that car has been cared for,
and you'll never go wrong changing the tranny fluid early. Use only
Honda Z1, and do it yourself. You'll get nearly 4 quarts (litres) out of
it, so have 5 on hand. The 'special tool' is just a 3/8" ratchet or
T-handle. A large painter's tray, or ice cream bucket will work. Short
drive to warm it up, remove the filler plug (dipstick), crack the (very
tight) drain bolt loose, and pull it out a half inch, so it can dribble.
Don't pull it all the way out or you'll hose your tire and hand with hot
ATF. Let it drain for twenty minutes. There's LOTS of places that the
fluid has to slowly drain out of. New crush washer, wipe off the
magnetic drain bolt spotless, and put it back together. Make a very long
'dunce cap' funnel out of a legal manila folder, taped together on the
outside, and refill with a 1/2 litre less than you think you got out.
Start engine and run it through the gears. Check and top up
CONSERVATIVELY. Don't overfill.

Drive it a week and do it again. You'll sleep way better.

03 has the trans on the left side of the car . Honda used to have the
engine on the drivers side and trans on pass . that changed in 03 . the
plug is on the inside of the case facing the engine oil pan. Still takes a
3/8 rachet. Use only genuine Honda fluid. Scott
