Post subject: 2001 Ford Crown Victoria

I have a 2001 Ford Crown Victoria w/ 50800 miles. Lately when I try to crank it up, it sounds like its trying to start, but then cuts off once I release the ignition. I have to try and crank it up and give it some gas at the same time so that it will stay on, then I have to continue to give it some gas, then hurry and put it in drive so it will go. Then, once i approach a redlight or stop sign, it wants to cut off again. Any ideas on what might be causing this?
