Post subject: 2000 grand am won't go over 2000 rpms

I have a 2000 Grand Am a times when I am coming up to speed after a red light, it will not get above 2000 rpms. I have to stop and shut off the engine for about 30 minutes, then everything is ok. I have had the tranny checked out it was ok. No codes show up and the clutches.Any ideas?
