1999 cougar cranks but wont start

i was away on vacation for a month, so the car has'nt been run for a
mnth. i came back from vacation, tried to start it, it cranks, but wont
start, can see the speedometer and other dials shooting up while trying
to start. its a 99 cougar, never had any problems before. anyone has
any ideas about the possible causes???

What do you mean"shooting up".. should bounce with key on.. not cranking,
except tach should bounce a little

Do you hear the fuel pump for 2 seconds with key on ?

Check the Fuel pump collision interlock switch
