Archived from groups: alt>autos>toyota>trucks (more info?)

I have a 98 4Runner that is new to me. It does not have keyfobs.
However, it has power locks, and if you use the key in the driver's
door, all the locks will lock together.

I'd like to get keyfobs for this, and would appreciate advice. Is it
possible the radio device is already present in the car receive a
keyfob signal? Is the radio receiver always present if you have power
locks? If so, would I just need to determine the FCC ID, get the
keyfobs, and program them? If not, is it a complex matter to acquire
and install the radio device?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Go buy a cheap alarm system for $100 and use that to trigger the doors. You
get the added advantage of an extra bit of protection as well.
