1997 Plymouth Voyager Dash goes out

I have a 1997 Plymouth Voyager and the dash all of a sudden won't work when you start it up. It has been going out and eventually coming back on when you start it again at some point but now doesn't seem to want to go back on at all. The section of the upper dash that lights up with the BRAKE LIGHT and AIR BAG light, still comes on but the speedometer, gas, odometer and temp gauge below won't work. If anyone has any idea of what is possibly wrong please let me know. I am thinking it might have something to do with the ignition but might be way off too
I have been reading through a lot of the similar issues on other vehicles on this site. There is one posted on March 16, 2005 and says that they fixed their problem which appears to be a similar problem. We tried that and we don't have a box that it tells you to unplug the wires from and then wait and plug them back in and it should reset itself. If the Tech that instructed this other person what to do can give us some info as well we would greatly appreciate any assistance we can get on this. This is our 5th Caravan/Voyager and have not had any problems till now.

I haven't had any response on this and find it odd that most of the questions have some sort of response. In any case through trial and error we are getting closer to the problem. We found if you hit the dash it comes back up. So now have to take the dash apart to see what is causing that. If anyone has any clues on this part of it could you please pass it on to us.
