Hello All,
I can't find in my Bentley a procedure for changing the Rear Carrier Mounts.
Maybe I've overlooked it. I did find online, however, a special tool (33 31
1 129 760) that allows changing these mounts without removing the rear axle.
My question is: Am I crazy to attempt changing these without this tool? My
brother has his own mechanic shop w/ lifts etc. but he hasn't looked it over
yet- he told me to read up on the procedure (which I cannot find). Anyone
with experience out there that can steer me in the right direction? I
appreciate it!!

If you mean the 2 large rubber subframe mounting bushes, the procedure is
detailed on: www.e34.net
It's easier than it looks. I've done this a few of times in the road with
jacks and stands.

JB, I can't seem to pull up the procedure on www.e34.net. Would you happen
to have a more specific URL to take me there? I appreciate your time!

No problems. Best of luck with the job. The E34 was probably the best built
of all of the 80/90s BMWs and if could only find a RHD M5 Touring
(impossible I know!), I'd never buy another car!
