| Hello,
We already replaced the coil and the crank sensor and still no spark.
We don't want o replace to much more with out some idea. The Haynes
manual seemed to point to these two parts but we are stumpted at this
point. Any ideas greatly apprerciated!

The first thing I would do is to try and pull diagnostic trouble codes, by
turning the ignition on, off, on, off, and on, just to see if the engine
computer (SBEC) is powered. You should at least get a code 55(end of codes).
If you get nothing, then I would check pin # 3 on the 60 pin computer
connector to make sure it is getting 12 volts. The 1992 computer was powered
by a fusible link that tended to burn up just because of old age. I would
assume the 1993 is the same way, or possibly they went to a fuse setup to
power the computer. >> Stay informed about: 1993 Dodge Caravan has no fire... |

You could buy a cheap code reader, but with a 1993 you should be able to to
the "key dance" by turning the ignition to "on" (not start), then off, then
on, then off, and then on and leave it on. The check engine light will then
flash codes. The codes are always 2 digit codes. Example blink * blink *
blink ...pause blink * blink - whould be a code 32. See the following:

The Code 12 means that power has been lost by the computer recently because
of a dead battery, or battery disconnection, etc.
The Code 55 is signaling the end of fault code display.
Neither of these are significant in your case but they tell you the computer
is powered, so it's fusible link (or fuse) is OK.
Have you done a simple spark test by removing a plug, grounding it as
someone turns the engine over, and seeing if you have spark? Or sprayed a
TINY amount of starting fluid, or carb cleaner into the throttle body to see
if it's fuel starvation related? >> Stay informed about: 1993 Dodge Caravan has no fire... |

Steve,
I saw no spark jumping from one of the SP cables to the plug when I
held it about an 1/8 from the plug tip. I even touched it with my
finger to make sure there was no spark. I'm kind of baffled at this
point. >> Stay informed about: 1993 Dodge Caravan has no fire... |
