I've got 4 snow tires (185/70R14). I'm wondering...

1- If I can find wheels with a 5x100 pattern in that size
2- Will I have enough clearance for the brakes. (it's got 225/60R16 now)

I know the car will be lowered a little, but I don't want to spend 600$
on new tires If I don't have to.

Geez guys, I was just asking a question. Not all of us are mechanics you
know. As I said, I know the car would've been lowered.

Nevermind...

I don't think the 14 inch rims will fit over the rotors, seeing as the
rotors are 13 inch, and then you have the calipers over them. if I remember
correctly, the smallest you can use is a 15 inch rim

Not only that, the cost of the rims would obviate any savings by using
these garage sale tires.

Buy proper tires, be done with it. Oh, he left? Figures.

First of all, I already have those tires from a previous car (meaning
all that would be missing would be the rims)

Besides the lowering, the lack of brake clearance, the speedo error,
and looking like one of those morons with tiny gold-spoked wheelZ,
have you considered the load rating of the tires? The last time I checked,
the Grand Marquis was still "full size", a little over 3900lbs. You think
some dinky little probably-10-year-old snow tires can take the weight?

If they are 10 years old, the rubber is breaking down.

Aren't most 14" rims 4-bolt rims?

Save yourself a lot of headaches. Get hte right snow-tires.

The ones from my Cavalier are 5 bolts.

14 inch wheels

185/70R14

Pretty standard wheels.

Most GM, some Toyotas, some Volks,etc...

I have to agree, he should get the right tires.

He has to get the right tires and rims. The 14" rims are not gonna fit
over the Grand Marquis rotors and caliper. He needs to go to a tire sales
garage and have a mechanic pick out the right tires and rims. Other than
that, he needs to RTFM for his Grand Marquis for the correct tire specs.
It's common sense to consult your owners manual first before seeing a
mechanic or the dealer.
